Mallorcan gastronomy
In this article, we will introduce you to three typical dishes that you may not have heard of, but that you have to try during your holiday in Mallorca.

Tumbet Mallorquí

One of Mallorca's most emblematic dishes. It is prepared when the tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, and peppers are at their best, thus ensuring the freshness and flavour of the ingredients. Tumbet Mallorquí is a delicious garnish for almost any dish, be it meat, eggs, or fish – it's even delicious on its own!

Tradition says that, when plating, you should create layers with each of the ingredients. Start with a potato base, then add the aubergine, courgette, and peppers. Finally, finish with a generous helping of homemade tomato sauce. This dish is delicious and surprisingly simple to prepare.

Trampó Mallorquín

Trampó Mallorquín is a salad that stands out for its simplicity and the use of fresh seasonal products, such as Mallorcan white onion and Mallorcan green pepper. This dish is especially good for the summer months.

The name "trampó" comes from the Mallorcan word "trempar", which means dressing, and refers to the process of seasoning the ingredients. The key to a perfect salad is to cut all the ingredients into small, uniform pieces.

Ingredients:

3 tomatoes
1 Mallorcan white onion
2 Mallorcan green peppers
Extra virgin olive oil
Salt
1 can of tuna (optional)

Elaboration:

Start by cleaning and cutting the peppers into long strips and then into small squares.
Peel the tomatoes and onion, and cut them into squares of the same size as the peppers. Place all the ingredients in a large bowl.
Dress the salad with a drizzle of quality olive oil and salt to taste.
Optionally, you can add a can of tuna.
Mix well and it is ready to serve.
Llonguet de Sobrasada con Queso de Mahón

If you're looking for a quick and delicious snack that represents the Balearics, you can't miss Llonguet de Sobrasada con Queso de Mahón. This simple snack takes just 15 minutes to prepare and requires three key ingredients: Mahón cheese, sobrasada and a llonguet bun. If you like contrasting flavours, you can also add a touch of honey.

Ingredients:

1 llonguet
75 gr. of sobrassada in a slice
50 gr. of Mahón cheese
Honey to accompany (optional)

Elaboration:

Open the llonguet bun and place the sobrassada in pieces, followed by slices of Mahón cheese.
